Our Story

Founded in 2000 by esthetician Tammy Shaw, Essentials Day Spa is Denton's premier day spa. For over 20 years, our clients have enjoyed spa services that combine classic treatments and cutting-edge facial techniques. From our hydrating oxygen facial to the decadent Dentonite spa package, we are sure to have a service & experience that will entice and delight both newcomers and experienced spa-goers alike.

Nestled snugly in Downtown Denton, Essentials is located about half a mile North of The Square in a charming 1920s bungalow. Despite being close to so many dining and entertainment options, our day spa maintains its quiet charm, and has remained one of Denton's beloved hidden gems.

Allie Hentrich

Esthetician

Allie has been an Esthetician for over seven years and has two years of expertise in dermatology as a MOHS assistant. Her passion is making people feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. When she's not a work, Allie enjoys playing with her cattle dog mix and rewatching The Office for the 20th time. She loves helping people find a skincare routine that fits their life and schedule. Visit Allie to reach your skincare goals! Allie is available Friday afternoons and Saturdays.

Tammy Shaw

Owner and Esthetician

Tammy has been an esthetician for over 20 years. In that time, she has stayed on top of skincare trends while continuing to offer tried and true methods of skin care and high quality products. Tammy's clients are exceptionally loyal, and after one facial with her, you'll understand why! She opened Essentials in 2000 to fill the need for a local, affordable day spa, making routine self care accessible to Dentonites. Tammy is available Tuesday through Friday.

Hannah Adams

Esthetician and Lashes

Hannah graduated from Ogle School of Beauty in 2020 after learning the ropes of the spa industry here at Essentials. Hannah is available Wednesday through Saturday.

Misty Murray

Massage and Body

Misty has been a licensed massage therapist since 2008. She attended Maric College in San Diego, CA, where she graduated with high honors in the Holistic Health Practitioner vocational program. Misty's first job was working at the Chopra Center for Wellbeing located at La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, CA. There, she learned Ayurvedic techniques for body and energy work, which she still employs today. After returning to Texas, Misty completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at Texas Woman's University. She has worked at boutique and historical hotel spas in Dallas, as well as working at The Gaylord Texan. Misty loves to bring in new treatments and products that enhance the spa experience for our guests. After many years of practicing massage, her favorite modalities are prenatal, energy work, and body treatments. Misty is available Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, and mornings Thursday through Saturday.

Jyn McCoy

Massage and Body

Jyn has been a Licensed Massage Therapist for over two years, specializing in Deep Tissue Massage. She is passionate about self-care and helping her clients achieve their goals, focusing on relieving pain and discomfort that may hinder them from reaching their full potential. A fun fact about Jyn is that she grew up surfing and enjoys connecting with nature in all aspects of her life. Whether you are seeking relief from chronic pain or simply a moment of relaxation, Jyn is here to help you rejuvenate and restore balance. Jyn is available Tuesday/Wednesday mornings and Thursday/Friday/Saturday afternoons.

Michelle Le

Nails

Michelle has been in the industry for over two decades and brings expertise to Acrylic and Gel nails. She is meticulous with her pedicures and finds joy in connecting with her clients. Michelle is available Tuesday through Saturday.
